Herb Infused Cocktails & Party Ideas
Herb Infused Cocktail & Party Tips
Imagine having a little garnish bar. So if you're having a party, you've got your drinks, whether they're mocktails, cocktails, whatever, have a little garnish area where you can have Rosemary sprigs in one jar, mint in another one, and basil in another one with little slices of lemon, things like that! Have the step 1, 2, 3, and you've got everything set out and then they're mixing and matching by going around and picking fresh herbs that they want to put in so they can make it their own. Plus, another fun thing you can do at the party is having people make their own infused alcohols to take home, or you can do this beforehand and give it as a gift. If you have an assortment of dried herbs, like camomile and rose tips, and you can even go to a bulk health food store, buy a bunch, set them out, let people make their own infusions and take them home.
How to Make Infused Alcohol
To make a lavender infused vodka, you get a large jar and, depending on how much you're going to make, you throw in a healthy handful of dried lavender blossoms. For an added punch of flavor, you can add a layer of dried hibiscus flowers plus a couple of fresh mint sprigs. Then all you do is add a flavorless vodka and make sure everything is submerged in the liquid. Shake it up really well and you're done! All you need to do is let it sit and infuse for a couple of weeks. Every few days you want to shake the jar and keep it in a darker location, like a cupboard you use often so you'll still see it and won't forget about it. When it's ready, all you need to do is strain out the herbs.
And if you want to make it have a stronger infused flavor, you can strain out your herbs and then repeat the process. You can change the profile of the taste by adding acids or sweets or things like that, depending on your personal preference. But, you can do this with anything, like mint and jalapeño in tequila!
For a simple spicy infusion, try using dried jalapeños! Depending on how spicy you want it, you can muddle them beforehand or slice them up and put them directly in your margarita! So good.
